“Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.”
This quote to me is a little, I don’t know, I guess just kinda ‘poetic’. Which is great, I love those things, I just usually don’t understand them! With all the ‘thou’s’ (is that even right?) and ‘thy’s’, just use English! (yes, yes, I know, that was English. The couldn’t time travel to today and write it? How rude!)
So as I’ve bored you with my little conversation in my head now, I’ll get onto why I just bored you half to death! As I was saying, I usually don’t get the poetic stuff. But when I read this it just kinda spoke to me I guess. I try (by try I mean “try”) to see happiness in things but there’s days when I just don’t find happiness. This quote, it seems to have got it right. Sure, everyone’s always saying, “Rachel, you can’t find happiness, you make happiness!” (Really? Does that sound lame? Look at me, now I’m the one saying it!) But really, you don’t find it in things. Name one time you’ve found it in a thing. (not a person, a thing!) Sure, you’ve found a temporary cure for your boredom but not exactly happiness.
Happiness isn’t something that can be traveled to, owned, earned, worn, or consumed; as it says in this quote. It’s something that’s given by people through actions, it’s those moments with family and friends. It’s those moments that make happiness, not things. I used to watch T.V. all the time (I don’t exactly know if I’m a lot better!) Every time that I’d sit and watch more than a few episodes I’d feel lazy (yes, probably because I was being lazy! lol) I’d feel really bored and I would kinda look for something better to do but since I didn’t look very hard I didn’t really find anything. So I would continue to sit there and watch T.V. It wasn’t giving me any joy, it was really just there to waste my time. No, I’m not saying to never touch a T.V., a movie, or a video game again. (I think I might die if I did that!) But surprisingly, (and I always found this lame when someone would tell me this. In fact, I think I still find it kinda lame!) When I went outside and sat down on the grass or laid back, outside just smelt so good! Just after it rains, it’s amazing! Just little things like that.
Finding happiness isn’t about doing something to achieve it, it’s about seeing it in every situation you’re in.
